Happy Fathers' Day

Happy Fathers' Day to all STEPdads.
If you're feeling unappreciated or left out today - join the party! Me too.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that we have a super role model. Jesus' stepdad, Joseph, is often overlooked, too. He even risked death for his wife's son.

So, to all us Josephs - you deserve a great Fathers' Day, too! You are heroes!

To blend two separate families together isn't entirely impossible. I don't personally feel that there is enough information out there for those that are considering taking on the role of the "step-parent" to prepare you for what could, may, and probably will be in store for you.

Regretfully, the perception of "the wicked stepmother, sisters, father, brothers, ect..have been etched in stone. You are already the bad guy walking into the situation, as far as the kids can see..the only thing their mind will see is beautiful pictures of better times passed when Mommy and Daddy were still together.

You can't change this..their anger and resentment need someone to blame and you will fit the bill. They may love you even, but when things aren't going their way they will strike out...at you!! I am not talking about small children. I am talking about the small children that have grown into young adults, still carrying around that anger and perhaps guilt for the family they loved and lost.

The word "marriage" is meant to be taken seriously. Not tossed around like a hot potato. It's a committment for "life" not "lifes pleasures". To break this committment has serious side affects to others you love besides yourself. Be responsible not selfish.
